SGC100 Guide: How to Upgrade your Samsung Galaxy Camera to firmware XXALK1 (and Root)

Earlier this month i bought Samsung Galaxy Camera. Funny i never settle with something as is, so i look for updates, mods and tweaks.
When i bought my Galaxy Camera, its firmware is XXALJF.
Then i found out for my region, which means same CSC, there's newer firmware which is XXALK1. If you don't know the naming scheme by Samsung, the second from the end, J & K represents month the firmware released, so J represent October and K represent November, which obviously means that it is newer than my current firmware.
Also don't worry, this firmware is Official so the phone status will still be Official, and in my experience your data will be keep intact.

How to Upgrade your Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0" P3100 to Android Jelly Bean 4.1.1 using Offline OTA

This method is intended for APAC releases, with 4.0.4 firmware out of the box, which in my case come out with P3100XXBLE3. Although these upgrade were intended for XSP and XME (Singapore and Malaysia) but actually APAC firmware are mostly the same, which also contain Bahasa Indonesia.

Notable upgrades: The major difference is that your tab will no longer in tablet mode but in Phablet mode just like Nexus 7. Well it's for you to decide which one is better.

WARNING!: There is a downside by upgrading with this method, that is your phone status will be "MODIFIED". Also you will need to WIPE your internal memory. Do BACKUP first!

Easter’s Computer Specification Standard

I’ve made some classifications for PC specification in some range of price, and this become standard for me in suggesting others from buying PC depending on their budget.

  1. Starter PC (< Rp.3M)
  2. Atom PC (< Rp.3M)
  3. Basic PC (Rp.3M-Rp.4M)
  4. Personal PC (Rp.4M-Rp.5M)
  5. Performance PC (Rp.5M-Rp.7M)
  6. Gaming PC (Rp.7M-Rp.12M)
  7. Enthusiast PC (Rp.12M-Rp.25M)

Of course i’m not making this specification by the best or the most expensive product in its class, but by the most efficent price vs performance comparison. That’s why even the enthusiast PC not using the best graphic card or processor available.

For the brand names, it’s not likely that i’m promoting some brands, but it’s just for easier price and specification comparison.
